Soulful and sublime, Chandrika Tandon is a rare musician whose music touches our innermost selves. Fairfield is fortunate to host this world-renowned artist as the featured performer in a Gala Benefit Concert in support of the Global Peace Initiative. To give you a flavor or Chandrika's Bhajan-based world music: Imagine the rich depth of Krishna Das combined with the heartfelt bliss of Snatam Kaur, to which is added the refinement of classical Indian music. This concert will be a major production, with Chandrika bringing in her own New York-based music ensemble... and she will also be joined by some of Fairfield's finest, including Rick Stanely, Tim Britton, Werner Elmker, and more.  Chandrika describes her music as aspiring to "pierce into the deepest part of ourselves and reach into our grace." Trained by masters in Hindustani, Carnatic, South American and Jazz traditions, Soul Call, Chandrika's second album, released under the not-for-profit label Soul Chants Music, has topped world music charts and garnered great acclaim including a Grammy nomination. 100 percent of the proceeds of Soul Chants Music will benefit organizations in the fields of community building, arts and spirituality. Chandrika has been featured on NPR and performed in many venues including Lincoln Center and the Berlin Olympia Stadium.
